Turning turnips into comfort food

I seem to start a number of my posts on cooking with root vegetables with “I’ve never been a big fan of …”.  Turnips, I’m afraid, are no exception.  While I have been pleasantly surprised with the results of cooking with beets and cabbage, I wasn’t quite ready to let turnips take centre stage on the plate.  And I know I am not alone.  At a farmers market I visited recently, I overhead two people talking about the same thing.  Both agreed that they didn’t like the bitterness of turnips.  Since turnips were included in my Food Bag, I had no choice Continue reading
